What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Gifts and decorations? Santa Claus? Family parties? It's strange to think that the origin of such a glittering holiday is the birth of Jesus, whose arrival had none of the comforts we associate with Christmas today. Take the time this season to remember the strange and wonderful time when God became one of us. This study is designed to be used during the weeks leading up to Christmas (the season of Advent). If your group doesn't have time for all five sessions, you can do Lesson 5 after Christmas. Optional Advent activities are included.
This one is $9.99

Westminster John Knox.

Product Description

Advent is the season in which we watch, wait, and prepare to bear witness to the coming of the true light of God's presence in Jesus Christ. Through worship, Scripture, and prayer, we train our eyes to see God's presence so that in the hubbub of the "holidays", we are prepared to celebrate a "holy day"-when God came down among us in human flesh.

In When God Comes Down, James A. Harnish explores the lives of people who witnessed the miracle in the Incarnation. He invites us to reflect on their stories and, in our reflection, to become witnesses with them to the one light that will never be overcome.

When God Comes Down, is a five week study appropriate for both group and individual use, provides one lesson for each week of Advent and for Christmas. Each lesson includes a reference to a key passage of Scripture, reflection, discussion questions, brief prayers, and a focus for the coming week.

Product Description

Under Wraps is an all-church Advent experience that explores the character of God described in the Old Testament and then revealed through Jesus Christ. Through small group resources for all ages, teaching video, worship ideas and visuals, sermon lead-in videos, and preaching guides, all areas of church life weave together for an exciting, new Advent celebration.
The adult study book is the centerpiece of the program, serving as the adult small group resource and the source of content for worship planners and leaders. Each week centers on a key word that describes a characteristic of God that is evidenced in the Old Testament and then seen more clearly through Jesus: faithful, dangerous, expectant, and jealous. Additional material on the theme of "Joy" is provided for an optional Christmas week focus.
